Disappointing

The storyline had great promise. Unfortunately the publishers description was the best part of the book. There were too many unnecessary plot twists that came out of nowhere that didn’t add to the story. They only created confusion. Too much relationship angst between characters that was most times very unbelievable. For example, there is no way a loving daughter would be upset about her mother finding love and happiness after her having lost a child and surviving cancer. It wasn’t even a necessary element to the story. Not sure if the author was just trying to add characters for future books for a series or if the author is just that scatterbrained. The author could find some value in a few beta readers.

Was a really great story wished the ending was better. Didn’t realize I was reading the ending when I was reading it.

Lacked Character and Plot Development

This book wasn’t that bad. My problem comes from the plot. There were too many twists in turns for one book with no real development. There was a total of maybe three conflicts in the story and each of those conflicts could have been the main point in their own book, with more thought and detail behind them. This book lacked true character development for Sophia and Jax, even though they were the main characters. Also, there was no real sense of time for half the book. There were a few key words that signified how much time had passed however, things and details just wouldn’t align to the time frame that was given. I don’t usually leave bad reviews for books because I have a tendency to like almost every story I read, but this just didn’t do it for me. It made me want to go in and fix everything I just mentioned just so I could enjoy it the way I do most books. I’m extremely disappointed.

Couldn’t finish the first chapter

I’ve never been a fan of first person fiction, but it tried for several pages to ignore it. I prefer to have a omniscient narrator rather than a friend sharing an experience. I was willing to give the book a try despite this. What drove me away was five pages of choppy writing, harsh and awkward sentences, and more tell than show. Rather then tell your reader that mom is serious when she uses your middle name, show the reader your reactions to hearing your middle name. I promise we’ll understand she’s serious. There were a lot of cliches in those five pages and none if it was something I hadn’t read before. Add to that a full page of recounting watching a medical drama and I’m wondering why we need so much backstory on the dying mom in a romance novel. Where was the hook? If things like this don’t bother you, you can judge the book on its plot. But the writing wasn’t for me.

All over the place

The plot had no solid points. New characters and relationships within the last chapters. The relationship between Jax and Sophia seemed really surface and inorganic. Waste of time.

The book fell flat for me. Sophia was a spoiled women with the why me attitude. Jax I wasn’t sure what his role was. The ending was a disappointment.

Interesting

Just no...

I felt the story line was completely disjointed. I painstaking my read the whole book and I’m just glad it’s over.

Its ok

The book fell flat for me. Sophia was a spoiled women with the why me attitude. Jax I wasn’t sure what his role was. The ending was a disappointment.

Great book!

I like that this is something new and fresh that we haven’t seen before. It’s love with a twist, I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
